Safe Harbor creates 'Shippy' a rain barrel for the Olentangy River Festival
The festival is designed to engage and educate residents about land and water stewardship, especially as it pertains to the Upper Olentangy River Watershed.
As part of the festivities, the community was offered the opportunity to get involved by painting a rain barrel and make a difference while enjoying the benefits of eco-friendly practices and artistic expression.
This unique initiative not only engages the community in hands-on participation by painting rain barrels but also promotes sustainability by collecting and storing rainwater, reducing stormwater runoff, and supporting the Olentangy Watershed Alliance's mission of preserving the Upper Olentangy River watershed. The completed barrels were raffled off during the Olentangy River Festival. All the proceeds support the Olentangy Watershed Alliance, a non-profit whose mission is to inspire appreciation and stewardship of the Upper Olentangy River watershed.
