Safe Harbor Receives Grant Funding for Young Adult Empowerment Initiative

Safe Harbor has received grant funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services to expand our current programs and outreach by focusing on our young adult population ages 18-27, LGBTQA+ and rural communities in Delaware and Morrow Counties.  The funding will help strengthen and create new partnerships within our local communities including both formal and informal stakeholders.  These services will offer a warm hand-off for young adults needing mental health and substance use disorder services.  Safe Harbor will deliver educational, stigma reduction, and behavioral health prevention services.  The core service of these centers is peer support with the central notion that persons who have lived with mental illness and/or addiction are both credible and effective agents for helping others with similar problems.   The centers offer structured recovery programs, support groups, nutritional meals, outreach services and referrals.
